if u watched the news, then u know that Egypt had a successful 18-day riot that resulted in MUBARAK's longgggggg holiday (or i'd like to call it, cuti selama2nya).

so which means the malaysian students pon ada longggg holiday. usually our winter holiday is only 2 weeks but thanx to the riot, our holiday has been extended to a month! wohoo!!

started off with a kain, needle, and a needle holder, then only move on to real human flesh!

Psychiatry : SCARY

i underestimated psychi.

1st when they said "oh after neurosurgery, its gonna be psychiatry" so i hieved a pretty big sigh and the only thing on my mind about psychi is "i'm gonna die of boredom and sleep during classes"

little did i know.. that there's something quite interesting about psychi. its the part where u actually meet the 'scary' patients!!!!

i believe that, to be a psychiatrist, u have to have insurance for ur face cuz i think u can get punched by your patients. SERIOUSLY.

i even asked the doctors, she said "there was one doctor who was nearly strangled by a patient"

so.. u gotta be extremely professional in handling these kinda patients. and staying calm is up-most important. You need patience too since ur patients will be creating lotta stories that you can use to create a movie with~ like schizo patients tend to have delusions like "doctor, i think my neighbour is trying to kill me using laser beams" or "the president is trying to steal my money under my pillow" that sorta stuff. But u gotta gain the patient's trust or he'll just run away and wont be able to receive the proper treatment!

Usually la kan~ u would wanna sit near the patient, in order to listen what he's saying.. getting to know the patient better.. but in psychi, i try to stay as far as i can but still at range that i can hear what he's saying.. cuz I DONT WANNA GET PUNCHED. or strangled.
seriously scary ok!! yesterday, when we were with one patient, there was another one who came barging into the room and screaming (i dont understand what he said. i heard something like "i have no money")

here's another fascinating fact, when the disturbed patient came in scolding the doctor, she (the doctor) was absolutely CALM. (sumpah aku respect Dr psychi, how could they be like that when they have to deal with psycho patients EVERYDAY!!!!)

The 1st patient that i met, i thought he was a one-of-a-kind, when he mentioned (quite a few times) that he just wants to get MARRIED. but he wasnt the only patient who wanna tie the knot. (we noticed that he kept staring at the females ) keke.
even the patient that we saw yesterday, 39 yr old male, single, was smiling so widely when responding to one of our female doctors that made is all laugh! i guess they just wanna get married! =D (i cant deny that the female doctors there are kinda good-looking~ hik2)

my advice?
stay calm. try to get to know them better. know the difference between fantasy and reality. try not to get punched.

i lost my inspiration to write, so now i've got it! imma blog my thoughts =)

this is week our 2nd week in neurosurgery. as far as it goes, i kinda enjoy neurosurgery! its more interesting than neurology (honestly i find surgery very exciting!)

so yesterday, my group and I were scheduled to be in the OT in Mansoura University Hospital. We're so lucky i tell u!!!

here's the story. (it might be too complicated for preclinicals to understand this, but i'll try to make it simple to understand)

Last week, we met a patient named Miss XXX age 25. I cant remember her complaint, but she came to the hospital, and mentioned that she was unable to close her eye completely, and we noticed that half of her face is paralyzed. Is 'paralyzed' the right word to describe it? Like when we did the cranial nerve examination, the angle of her mouth dropped, she cant kerutkan her forehead. so my colleague asked her some more questions and she also mentioned that one side of her hearing is not that good.

so we suspected that something's compressing her 7th and 8th cranial nerve.

muscle of the face (like smiling, raising your eyebrow, closing your eyes) are supplied by the 7th nerve (facial nerve)
hearing is supplied by vestibulococchlear nerve (8th nerve)

so now we have to determine whether its an upper motor neuron lesion or lower motor neuron lesion. (UMNL/LMNL)

why? cuz nak tau mana site defect tu~ if UMNL, its somewhere from the origin of the nerve to the brain. if its LMNL, its from the nerve to the muscles supplied by it. you get what i mean? hehe. takpe, tak faham, nanti belajar~ keke

alright, for facial nerve, senang je nak tau its an UMNL or LMNL. if only the lower half of the muscle of the face is affected, then its UMNL. if the whole face is affected, then its LMNL.
So from the examination, we concluded that its a LMNL!!!

Therefore the doctor showed us the MRI of that patient~

nampak tak lesion tu? clue : its whitish in color a.k.a hyperdense~

so the lesion is at the cerebellopontine angle. which explains the 7th and 8th cranial nerve affection.

i was confused at first, why is it LMNL ? then my groupmate explained, he said
"the tumor is arising from the vestibular nerve itself, not from the brain. so that is why its LMNL, not UMNL."

then i recalled our morning lecture, and asked him "is it a Schwannoma??" (nasib baik baru belajar~)

"yes bizzob mariooomaaaa!!" (ok he didnt actually say marioma, its just that they always call me with that name..sounds like a benign tumor ha...)

Schwanomma is a nerve sheath tumor. its a slowly growing tumor of the Schwann cells, surrounding cranial nerve roots (usually the vestibular part of the 8th nerve)

so when it grows big enough, it could compress its adjacent structure, which includes the 7th nerve!

So when we came to the OT yesterday, we were lucky enough to watch the surgery of that patient~ Doctor did an operation, approaching from behind the mastoid process, he opened up the skull, using a HUGE microscope, he elevate the cerebellum to have a good view on the tumor and scrape the tumor shuwayya shuwayya~ in cases of brain tumors, u cant just take the whole thing out or make a safety margin, cuz its the brain for God's sake!! anything you take out, you'll interfere with the brain's function~~~~

the microscope! told u its big!

so tiny. thats why he needs the big microscope.

Neurosurgeons need delicate hands and extra patience.. the whole surgery will take 8 hours to complete (thats what he said that day) gila, i didn't wait til it finish of course~ i got class to attend to!! i met the doctor the next day, he finished it in 4 hours @___@

pretty cool case. honestly it took me quite a while to understand the whole case.

kehkeh~ i forgot to mention, there was a fly that accidentally flew in the OT. A man sprayed ridsect in the OT! it was so funny! cant imagine what will happen if the fly mistaken the brain as food and landed on the exposed brain~ kehkehkeh~

hooray to the guy who killed the fly!

Tensions rise over Gaza aid fleet

The UN chief has called for restraint as some 700 activists from around world vow to deliver 10,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to break the blockade of Gaza.

Israel has cautioned that the Freedom Flotilla would be stopped, if necessary by force.

The nine-ship flotilla is by far the largest fleet of aid to try to reach the coastal Palestinian territory since Israel imposed its siege on it in 2007.

"We strongly urge that all involved act with a sense of care and responsibility and work for a satisfactory resolution," a spokesman for Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday.

He restated UN opposition to the siege of Gaza and the lack of material to meet "basic needs, begin reconstruction, and revive economic life".

After the Israeli army announced a detention centre at Ashdod port for holding the activists, Greta Berlin, one of the flotilla organisers, said: "We have the right to sail from international waters into the waters of Gaza.

"The only illegal presence in the area is Israel."

Berlin said the Freedom Flotilla was on schedule to arrive in the Gaza Strip on Saturday with more than 10,000 tonnes of supplies, including water-filtration units and pre-fabricated homes.

EU call

Israel and Egypt have sealed Gaza off to all but very limited humanitarian aid since Hamas, the Palestinian political faction, took control of the territory in June 2007.

Israel says the Gaza blockade aims to prevent Hamas from acquiring weapons or materials that could be used for military purposes.

For the majority of Gaza's population of 1.5 million people, the result has been impoverished living conditions.

Catherine Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief, issued a statement on Friday, calling for an immediate end to Israel's blockade on Gaza.

"We would like to reiterate the EU's call for an immediate, sustained and unconditional opening of crossings for the flow of humanitarian aid, commercial goods and persons to and from Gaza," she said.

"The continued policy of closure is unacceptable and politically counterproductive.

"The EU remains gravely concerned by the humanitarian situation in Gaza."

'Absolute provocation'

Israel's foreign ministry said it had given warnings to the ambassadors of Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Sweden and Turkey - from where the ships set sail - that it had "issued warrants that prohibit the entrance of the vessels to Gaza".

The flotilla "is about to break international law", Yossi Gal, the ministry's director general, said.

Gal said that the flotilla was "an absolute provocation" and a "cheap political stunt", as there was no shortage of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros attended an Israeli army news conference on Wednesday, where journalists were told that there was no humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

She said that the information to back up this claim was both incomplete and out of context: "This tells me what Gaza is getting in terms of supplies but does not compare this to how much Gaza needs to survive."

Israel has vowed to divert the ships to the southern Israeli port of Ashdod.

It has said that Israelis on board would be arrested, Palestinians would be questioned by the Israeli secret service, and foreign nationals deported.

Part of the port has been cordoned off and prepared to deal with the activists, and large tents set up for immigration booths and areas for people to be searched.

Gal suggested the organisers should voluntarily head to Ashdod to unload the supplies so Israel or humanitarian agencies can deliver them to Gaza overland, but the flotilla organisers rejected the offer.

Hanin Zuabi, a member of the Israeli parliament who is on board the flotilla, told Al Jazeera that the activists intend to reach Gaza regardless of plans to stop them.

"If the Israelis try to stop us, this will be a huge diplomatic and political crises for them," Zuabi said.

"We have 50 states participating in this and are sending a very clear message to Israel - the international community is not accepting the siege on Gaza."

Peace laureates aboard

Al Jazeera's Jamal Elshayyal, on board the flotilla, said the activists travelling in the convoy included European parliamentarians, former US diplomats and Nobel peace laureates.

Berlin, the flotilla organiser, said: "This mission is not about delivering humanitarian supplies, it's about breaking Israel's siege on 1.5 million Palestinians."

Fintan Lane, an Irish activist, said that they were determined to break Israel's blockade and will not be intimidated.

"The people of Gaza have a right to access to the outside world and the right to determine their own future," Lane said.

Huwaida Arraf, one of the organisers from the Free Gaza Movement, said: "Israel should not be under any illusion whatsoever that their threats or intimidation will stop us or even that their violence against us will stop us."

PR disaster

Some Israeli officials see the situation as potentially disastrous in terms of public relations.

"We can't win on this one in terms of PR," Yigal Palmor, a foreign ministry spokesman, said.

"If we let them throw egg at us, we appear stupid with egg on our face. If we try to prevent them by force, we appear as brutes."

Hamas officials say that Israel's threats to intercept the flotilla amount to "Zionist piracy".

"The occupation's threat to prevent the Freedom Flotilla from arriving in the besieged Gaza Strip is Zionist piracy and a violation of international law," Ismail Radwan, a senior Hamas leader, said.

"The occupation is concerned about these ships... because they grant legitimacy to engagement with the Palestinian government and confirm that the attempts to isolate Hamas have failed."

Fraser Ruling and Jehovah

have u guys heard of the Fraser Ruling/Guidelines and also the Jehovah Christians?

yea for u ppl who havent heard of it, 1st i tell u the history of Fraser Ruling/Guidelines.

(reference : Dr. Atia, cuz he told us the story just now.. hehe~ so if the story is wrong, blame him =D)

So its starts with a 14-year old female coming to see her GP. And she said "i'm having unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend. So i want contraceptive pills"

At that time, the law said that, a GP can only prescribe contraceptive pills for 16 years old females only if they have their parents' consent....

So.. the GP said la.. "does ur parents know about this?" she said No.
"i cant give u unless u have ur parents' consent", the GP told her.
She refused la cuz she din want her parents to find out. So she didnt take the contraceptive pills.
and because of patients' confidentiality, he couldn't tell her parents about this.

guess what happened next?
She went back to the GP.

Pregnant.

And the awesome thing is that.. her parents blame it on the GP!!! hahaha! "it's your fault our daughter is pregnant!! why didnt you just subscribe her the pills!". Just great.
yea at 1st i thought its not the GP's fault she's pregnant. She's the one who is sexually active and its her parents fault for not taking good care of her~

ok so they brought this case to court.. jeng3!
And the judge was Lord Fraser~

Judge Fraser asked the GP..
"did u tell her to tell her parents?".."No"
"did u tell her the consequence of being sexuality active and having a baby?".."No"
"did u tell her the side effects of taking contraceptive pills?".. "No"

so can u guys see? its kinda the GP's fault cuz he didn't warn her.

So from this, Fraser Guidelines (for under 16) jadi!
Boleh tengok kat bawah ni..

If you see another point of view, even if you tell her parents, its not gonna prevent her from getting pregnant. Unless u kill ur child.. or.. Lock her in her room~ Or kill the boyfriend.. lalala~

Ok pasal Jehovah pulak~

So ada satu case Dr.Atia cerita.. this boy is dying cuz of blood loss (i cant remember whats the disease). So since the parents are Jehovah Witnesses, they refuse the blood transfusion treatment for their boy, yea eventho he's dying. And so they let him die. They said, if the doctors perform the blood transfusion, they will not accept him as their son anymore.

What would you do if you're in the doctors' position?

Since baru belajar tadi, in my opinion, i would do the transfusion cuz i wouldn't want my patient to die. Even if they don't wanna accept him, there's always foster care. If the family rejects him, its now the community's responsibility to take care of him =)

Jehovah all around the world, please dont get mad~ its just my opinion =) who am i to judge anyone right?

we've just ended our O&G round (us, i meant the semester 8s) and surprisingly, i think i'm gonna miss this round. i totally love the exposure we get from it.
And of all the days, Allah has picked our last day in O&G to give us the ultimate gift, which is to watch live vaginal delivery! ok for some people, they might think "why ultimate gift??? ewwww!!"
its not easy la.. you have to have goodluck =D
if ada case at that time, then ada la.. if takdak.. try another day.. some of my friends had to wait for hours just to wait for the lady in labor to give birth. Alhamdulillah, we didnt even have to wait for more than an hour.. we reached at the delivery room, ada satu case! yay! then 10mins later, the doctor said "get the wheelchair!!"

A respond from a friend who was with me at that time..
"aku taknak bagi bini aku buat normal delivery..aku akan make sure dia buat Caesarean!!!"
the woman was screaming her lungs out at that time.. huhu.. scary mary~

but the girls in my group prefer normal delivery, even after the jaw-dropping experience. haha!

cinca menarik! biar la culture shock pun, u have to at least try watching it =)

oh after that, we went to the gyne ward.. took history from a patient.. did vaginal examination (something that not all medical students get to experience..heeee.. only in Egypt!), speculum examination. During history taking, i realized that, eventho its the last day for me to take history from patient, i still suck at it and i stilllll dont understand the egyptian language : ( (shuwayya shuwayya)
an advice to the preclinical students : please learn ur arabic well before entering the clinical years ok :(

So, itu lah~ habis dah O&G~ sedih? kinda.
what's next? Pediatrics... jeng jeng jeng.... (well exam O&G 1st of course, pray for us!!!!)
I dont know anything about pediatrics, but from the size of the Nelson Textbook of pediatrics, unbelievable ~~~~~~ *hooray*

one of the ways to motivate yourself to study is by keeping yourself busy so that you'll appreciate time~
this is what i believe la~ maybe for some people, one may think that the busier you are, the less time you have for studying~

well at least this gives me a reason to wake up early..haha!

So, these are the menu~

Before this, some of my colleagues told me to be 'extra' careful when Egypt starts to heat up~ as in, be careful when summer is approaching.. so i was like "ley ba'a??" (ley ba'a = why la)

so here's the story.
Today after Yah and I went to the gawazat (tempat buat visa?), as usual the 3ammu (pakcik) said "ta3ali bokra" (come tmrow). So we decide to go back to the hospital la~ what for waste time right? baik gi round~ dapat ilmu~

Anyways, On our way (we took a cab of course) to the hospital, as my mind ponder around thinking of life and the amount of sampah by the streets, all of a sudden Yah said "Mir, tengok tu. apsal orang tu bukak baju dia?". Because of my curiosity, i turned my head on the other side of the cab. Its too late for me to regret my actions by that time.... I found myself in a state of confusion at 1st cuz i didnt see anything and i only saw a makcik walking pass by..
as the cab drives closer to the junction of the street, i saw a shirtless old man (age 40-60 maybe~ midlife i assume) doing something weird.. and in just a few seconds, he starts to take of his friggin' pants!!!!!!!

YAH!!! APSAL KAU SURUH AKU TENGOK!! TRAUMA OK!!! TRAUMAAAA!!!!

Alhamdulillah our reflex were quick enough to save our innocent eyes~ (innocent la sangat~ =p ) i only saw his symphysis pubis *thank God*~ BOLEH TAK PAKCIK TAXI TU GELAK JE!!! adoiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~ i even heard people at the streets screaming "arrghh!!!" sape tak jerit kalau jumpa a naked guy in the middle of the jalan kan???

My provisional diagnosis for this is.. MAYBE he has some kinda brain tumor that's suppressing the part where it controls his rasional actions (Ya Allah, dah tak ingat anatomy otak..), but we cannot neglect the fact that the heat does crazy things to men. Males (Egyptians mostly) tend to be more..urm.. 'active' when the weather is like an oven. its sooo panassss~~ harr!! harr!! (hot! hot!) my friends said case meraba2 ni increase time tengah2 panas nih.. huhuhu~

Juniors especially, kalau tak pernah kena raba dgn arab sebelum ni, try elak by not walking alone kat kawasan yg sunyi/xde orang ramai..

banyak2 la berdoa ye supaya kita sentiasa selamat kat ardhul kinanah ni~

Abdominal Myomectomy and caput succedaneum

first of all, i wanna congratulate Mansoura Univ Hosp for its brand new clean modernize more sterilized OT! haha~ lawaaaaa sangat! impressive!!!
enough of those compliments. so this post is about abdominal myomectomy and caput sucadeoonoeum~~~ serious til now i donno how to pronounce it properly. adoi.

ok, abd myomectomy means that u make an incision at the lower part of the abdomen, open open.. cut cut. then find the uterus that got lotsa fibroids.. and then just remove the fibroid ONLY. sebelum ni kan total hysterectomy kan, means u buang everything (uterus+ovary+fallopian tube+cervix)
tapi kali ni... patient tu rasa dia nak get pregnant lagi. so since fibroid is a benign tumor, therefore she said she wants to keep her uterus. maka dgn itu Dr pun buat la myomectomy (removal of fibroid).. she's 40 years old btw. i have no idea why she still wanna get pregnant. biarla.. patient's rights~

tada! brand new clean OT! told you.. neat!!!!

ni gambar Dr tengah kopek keluar subserous fibroid from its capsule. Subserous means its protruding outside the uterus. dia ada banyak jenis, intramural (dlm muscle layer), submucous, pedunculated submucous+subserous etc. here's the diagram for types of fibroid. senang faham kot. kalau tak faham, can ask.

so these are the fibroids that have been taken out. Cam tak caye kan ada banyak giler fibroid in one person!! :-s

Ok next is about Caput Succedaneum. it means development of edema under the scalp of a newborn. benda ni normal, tak berlaku kat semua baby, tapi if ada, biarkan je. nanti dia recede sendiri. in about 2 weeks.
If u see in this picture, the newborn's head is not symmetry kan, notice x?? haaa. tu la caput succadaneum~ So no need to panic~ it will subside by itself

Uterine Fibroids

its been ages since my last post.
been busy with the new semester.
O&G is yet another semester full of new stuff to learn.
this semester, i'm taking an initiative to speak to patients and understand them without the help of our egyptian classmate. chaiyok!!!

ok here's some info about uterine fibroids~
we had the opportunity to observe a total hysterectomy few days ago. Done by Dr Abdel Aziz who was also our doctor incharge for our round that day.
Whats a fibroid? Fibroid is a benign tumor. Uterine fibroid is sooooooooo veryyyyy commonnnnnn in women. some are pretty harmless (30-40% of women are asymptomatic) and only a small chance (0.2%) chance for the fibroid to turn malignant. baca sendiri la pasal details dia. banyak sangat. huhu.

its looks like a monkey from the back, kan?? the 'head' is called the subserous fibroid. its a type of fibroid that protrudes out of the uterus into the peritoneum.. awesome!!!

with the responsibility taken of my shoulder, this year, i'm planning to do lotsa stuff that i couldn't do last year~ i would like to save up some money but it seems that everytime i try do so, emergency situations come up which requires me to spend the money that i saved up *sigh*
i did think of starting the cheesecake business back, but Ja said "ko nak jual cheesecake lagi watpe? dah dpt DSLR~" haha~ it doesnt mean i have no reason to simpan duit..

owh i'm having my mid semester exam today. i can't sleep. so i'm blogging.

MTC is over! and i only have one thing to say..

"its been an HONOR to have worked for Unit Ekonomi"

eventho our target for untung bersih was 12,000 LE. but we only managed to get half of it. eh bukannya tak bersyukur. alhamdulillah~
like my mom said, "better than -ve"

i kinda feel half empty tho..
tadi ingat lagi pengerusi majlis cakap "ok para AJKT sesi 08/09 boleh duduk bersama para perwakilan" .. cam wow i cant believe dah letak jawatan.
rasa cam baru je haritu tengah cari2 AJK~ begging one by one. cari je anybody yang tak diambil oleh unit lain.
i'm gonna miss w0rking with my AJKs!
they're too awesome, nice, hardworking, extremely helpful, and i anggap them as my own sisters and brothers!

1st and foremost, thanks to Ubai of course~ name panjang memang panjang. Muhammad Abu Ubaidah Mustafa Kamal (kan?) the great leader of Unit Ekonomi. tahniah anda naik lagi sekali tahun ni! akak doakan Ubai jadi a better AJKT this year~ i seriously respect him because, he managed his time well. statistic shows that half of his batch failed to naik tahun. Despite of being EXTREMELY busy with Unit Ekonomi, he managed to pass his exam (semua subject ok~) thats why la hang naik lagi sekali tahun ni =D owh and i apologize for not being a better timbalan and not treating u nicely~ (sebab ubai dongseng~)

AJK-AJK ku yang lain~
Meen, Temah, Kak Nahdia, Kakcik, Muna, Sakinah, Wahidah, Adiba, Ain Nasir, Teemah hencem, Aiman, Fatimah.. i dont know how to thank u guys. the effort, the energy and time u put for this Unit.. hanya Allah yang tahu and hanya Dia yang dapat membalas jasa baik korang semua. owh and tahniah Kakcik kita jadi AJKT tahun ni yea! wohoo!
i still remember those moments when they all slept late at nite just to cook and prepare for the jualan gerai~ the commitment is just W0W~ I am so thankful that Allah chose you guys to work along side with me.

AJK-AJK ikhwah pun tak lupa juga =) thanx guys~ couldn't have achieved all of these without u guys ~

since MTC is just around the corner, lately its been hectic sebab everybody's trying to promote certain people (also known as melobi) and of course semua orang yang bakal dicalonkan tu mesti la taknak jadi AJKT PCM.
why?
1.stress
2.kena sacrifice ALOT of time
3.tak yakin boleh buat kerja
4.tak pandai bahagikan masa, so tak sempat nak study
5.bla3.

cut the crap.
HONESTLY there's alot of benefit if u jadi AJKT ok~
1.Allah tolong kita kalau kita tolong orang (if niat baik)
2.more pahala for u if u do it with the right niat
3.ur brain will be more active thus your studying will be better
4.you will appreciate time more than before
5.there will be alotta people who will help u (u're not alone, dont worry!)
6.tak sempat nak study? tengok kak diah~ jayyid jiddan ok! and ramai ajkt lain yang dapat jayyid.

ada banyak lagi tapi malas nak taip semua cuz i know who read this understand what im trying to say.
after one year jadi AJKT, i hope that the next batch of AJKTs will do alot better than us and we all will definitely help and guide you guys no matter what.

MTC?

Excluding the mid sem exam this 8th of December, the next biggest event of this year is MTC~ which will be held on 4th of December.. dooms day for me @_@
yes some people dont even care about MTC. Dulu aku pun tak kisah sangat pasal MTC. i've never even attend one! to go and vote pernah la~ but i've never actually sit in the dewan and listen to what they talk about~ ok ada la sekali, itu pun yg cairo punya MAT.
last year punya MTC i didnt attend cuz 2 days later ada mid sem exam.. and i heard the MTC habis at nite (from pagi to malam, ridiculous!!!) so nasib baik tak pegi. lalala~
oh sorry.. MTC tu mesyuarat tahunan cawangan~ (untuk each cawangan : Mansurah, tanta, alex) MAT = Mesyuarat agung tahunan (ni untuk PERUBATAN induk)
MTC is the day when ALL the AJKTs will be questioned on what they've done for the past year.
and for me, i'll just have to worry about my part, which is Unit Ekonomi.
Unit Ekonomi buat kerja tak? promote tak? capai target tak? (ouch..)

these pictures were taken during Ja+Wadat's visit last july~

ni la cara2 nak buat CABG. CABG means coronary artery bypass grafting. when a patient is suffering from coronary artery stenosis or thrombosed coronary artery, the surgeon will have to do a graft (take out a vein and then replace the thrombosed artery with it.. macam buang yang rosak, and just buat laluan yang baru for the blood to flow)

1st buat central venous line to measure the central venous pressure.

and then open up the chest.. at the same time, the nurse incharged will do a phlebectomy. vein chosen was saphenous vein (at the kaki~) so they'll use this vein to do the graft.

after this, the heart will be stopped. cuz the heart is beating and its kinda hard to do the procedure with all the movement. therefore they connect the heart to the heart lung machine.

the arrow is showing the graft (the saphenous vein)

and the blue arrow is showing the artery yang stenosed/thrombosed being sutured to the graft.

tada! habis tu je. after that the surgeon disconnects the heart from the heart lung machine, start the heart back again, and suture everything up. kholas ba'aaa~

the plaza! haha~ not kidding. this part is actually inside the hospital. behind there you can see Body Shop.. body shop ok!! cool!! and there's even a hairdresser shop to0~

this is during my clinical skill. neat ha? hahaha~ syok sorang2.

Mr. Duggie! i think thats how u spell his name :-s he costs GBP 35,000!! complete with pulse, chest movement, pupil can constrict ok! and etc. and he can speak to0! (with the help of the computers of course..haha!) you can even put laryngoscope, endotracheal tube, and even do tracheostomy on him! ngeeee. and even shock him! SERIOUS. haha

well actually its been a week since i got back from Manchester.
how was Manchester? AWESOME!
yea it sucks that i didnt even have the time to see the oh-so-famous Trafford stadium.. (damn the stupid anti muslim and anti asian strike!!!! was stuck and the chaperon wont let us go out on that freaking day, kalau tak i could have gone to the stupid stadium!!!!)
the people over there are just SUPER NICE ok~~~~~~~~~~ super friendly super baik!!
i'm not even afraid to go shopping alone in the city centre cuz i know i'm safe there =D

anyways, enough about the shopping and all.
so, the 6 of us, (Me, farida+ahmed amer+mahmoud+sherif the egyptians and fatma the saudian) were separated into 3 groups.

me and sherif - salford royal hosp
i tell u ar~ my hosp is totally cool! they got tempat gunting rambut la! kedai runcit la! tempat makan yang best la! kedai baju la! and the best part is.. they got kedai BODY SHOP ok!!!! how cool is that! dah la murah kot body shop kat sane! wuhu!
and shockingly i found a musolla (surau).. and even a place for ablution!!! (wudhu) i dont even have to worry about my prayers! sangat convenient ok!
we get to join their PBL, lectures, skill lab, bedside teaching, semua la!! really nice! =D
its nice to get to explore and see how these geniuses study there in Manchester~
the best part for me was definitely the skill labs~ the only thing about practising ur skills there was that u cant do it on a real patient. unlike in egypt, u can do it on real patient but not everybody gets to do it. so i got pretty excited when the nurse gave us private tutoring in the skill labs.. wuhu!

overall i'm VERY satisfied with the attachment in Salford Royal.. those 2 weeks were really full of stuff that i've never experienced before and i'm really thankful to Allah (mesti la no.1), my parents and of course our doctors and Manchester Univ too! =)

they came to Penang last july, with expectations of watching and experiencing cool stuff kat OT.
and darn they were very lucky !!!
kira aku dapat luck diorang skali ar cuz the 3 of us dapat tengok surgeries like removing eyeballs, a case of a grandma kena gigit dengan her dog till can see her muscles and her skin is totally gone!!! and a surgery that i havent seen since 2007, CABG! wuhuu!!!

1) removal of the eyeball - sebab pakcik tu kena fungal infection kat mata dia, so he's blind so the doc needs to take out the affected eyeball.
aku tunjuk gambar setakat dia letak pisau sebelah mata and pegang mata tu je. After this pic is too much kot. nanti ada orang yang termuntah pulak. kalau nak tengok, boleh mintak.

2) makcik kena gigit anjing - erk.. i'll just let you guys see the pic and embrace it. Nurses told us that its not the makcik's 1st time to get bitten by the same dog. why didn't she kill the dog the 1st time it bit her!!!!thats the part where the dog bit. or ate. i guess the dog was hungy.
tu ada lagi kat bawah tu.. dah la makcik tu macam umur 80 kot!!! she's so lucky she's still alive!
i wonder how big is the dog. well i guess after this incident, she wont be seeing that dog anymore! !

3) CABG - coronary artery bypass grafting. the main concept is, the artery that supplies the heart is obstructed by a thrombus, therefore the surgeon has to make a new path for the artery to make sure it supplies blood to the heart. hurm its really weird, i remember taking pictures during the surgery but there's non in my pc T_T its ok! u can see the pic in the slideshow bawahhhh sekali.

ada la surgery2 lain, macam cholecystectomy, ACL surgery, operate hidung, hernia, cataract, tapi not as cool as these!! enjoy! click to enlarge the pic :D

tingat balik the last day when i was in Penang International Airport 2 weeks ago.
mom, abang, muiz, maklong, ameerah and even paklong was there to send me off.
there was one person missing in this picture.

a bit upset about that..
its too bad that he cant make it cuz he was too busy with his work. well at least i get to salam him before i flew.

Dad, hopefully your hardwork will pay off.

but this year raya in Mansoura la.. not many of us pun yang stay here.. some of them choose not to balik for raya cuz nak sambut the new students.. fresh meat.. lalala~ time to corrupt them!

i heard there are about 500 students coming? itu baru through agent.. yang JPA MARA?

so its been more than a week already since the class started. cardiothoracic+haematology (HLB -heart+lung+blood)
tiring i tell ya!! cuz ur fasting.. but not to worry! the taxi is always available to save ur energy!
and for the first time in my life, i will be attending 6 days of classes in a week!!! hooray!!!!
so lets calculate.. in a week you have 7 days right? 7 minus 6.. oooooo so i have one day only la to relax? relax hapenye!!!! HEART LUNG BLOOD!!!! nak mati ke!!! hari hari mau study~

apesal diorang tak buat kelas 7 days a week je ar? tak yah kasi cuti langsung laaaaa~

breast tumor, GB stones and haemorrhoid

went to the OT again yesterday.
saw 3 cases.

1. Breast tumor, fibroadenoma.
"Dr, whats the most common benign tumor of the breast?" -- Fibroadenoma
"kalau malignant?" -- Ductal Ca
and the doctor also shared a piece of info about biopy..
"Biopsy ada 4 jenis.. 1 is incisional.. u amek sikit saja.. 2 is excisional where you u excise the whole thing.. 3rd is fine needle aspiration (FNAC) and 4th is frozen section.. you take a biopsy and send it to the patho lab immediately while the patient is still under anesthesia. if the biopsy comes out +ve, then proceed"

2. gallstone.

normally when you open up the abdomen, the omentum or the liver is not stuck to the gallbladder (GB) but if there's inflammation (cholecystitis), its gonna get stuck to both liver and omentum.
nowadays can remove GB (cholecystectomy) by laporoscopy, but when it gets complicated, open up lor. if nak buat chole, buat Kocher's Incision (subcostal) on the right side.
Besides Kocher's, boleh buat right upper midline/ right upper paramedian/ right transverse incision of GB.
pre-op, obviously kena buat liver function test.

so kalau direct bilirubin high, therefore its obstructive jaundice la kan~ tapi dalam patient ni tak nampak jaundice dia, cuz its visible only if the reading is >100 U/la success!

3. and the last one was haemorrhoidectomy!

haemorrhoid (a.k.a piles) is mainly due to constipation
common site? bayangkan bentuk jam tu macam anus, 3,7 and 11 o'clock -- common sites.
the patient will complain of painless bloody defecation
yes haemorrhoid is totally painless, UNLESS if its thrombosed.
pain during berak ada 2 je diagnosis : anal fissure (usually tear at 6 o'clock) or thrombosed haemorrhoid.
this is the stapler used during this procedure. yea susah sket nak imagine. but if you see the op itself, baru ble faham~

next post will Insya Allah be about ECG~ since sem 7 is about cardiothoracic~ @_@

semalam join Dr. orthopedic surgeon.
ACL repair.. male patient. tore his ACL and his meniscus masa duk main some kinda sports.
stood in the OT for 2++hrs.. didnt even get to see the surgeon finish the ACL repair pun.. nurse said this surgery will finish in another 2hours. maka, aku mem-blahkan diri....

the orthopedic surgeon is taking out the semitendonosis punya tendon to replace the torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament)

tendons from gracilis muscle, and right and left semitendonosus.

removing the muscles from the tendons.

so after that, the doc just sew on the harvested tendon at the part where the ACL is torn.
pengajaran? jangan main sports ganas sgt sebab ACL itu tak kuat mane pun.....

the sight of the new cairo airport (terminal 3) is an absolute wow!
1st of all, the design literally made my jaw dropped, haha!
2nd was the amount of Malaysians crowding the airport.. i was like "am i in KLIA already??? where are the egyptians!!!" cuz i only see malays everywhere.. yang nak balik a few je, tapi yang hantaq tu punya la ramai~~~~~

after the 13hour flight~ we arrived at KLIA, and mom was there to pick me up!! heeee..
alhamdulillah~ Allah let me see the 1st person in my list =)
next morning, took a flight back to Penang.. Dad was there to pick me up!! "tak kerja ka??".. "kerja la.. nak p la sat lagi ni~" wuhu!
practically met everyone in the family..
cant wait to meet ameerah and maklong!!

so.. what to do at home?
agak bummer sebab gang2 Penang ada kat univ masing2.. ughh..

2 days ago. after just a one-nite stay at imano's place..
miro went missing.
the most important file on my laptop was wiped out (thanx to the virus and thanx to my stupidity..who ask you to put it on the desktop!!!)
my migraine got worse.
and some kinda penyakit.
worst day of the year.

my mom said "maybe you're just having EPS"
as i was about to click at google search.. she said "Exam Panic Syndrome"

i'm speechless.
when i heard there were year 3 cairo university students involved in an accident, the 1st thing i thought was "laki ke pompuan??" if pompuan, i'd be very worried cuz 2 of my housemates are in cairo now.
2nd thing i thought was, the only guy i know who's a 3rd year cairo univ student is Ammar.. one of the 3 guys who became our mushrif to Luxor and Aswan during the last winter holiday.

After receiving the bad news.. i cant even think of anything to say.. of all the cairo students..
eventhough i only get to know him for about 4 days.. i can tell that he's really a nice guy.
masa trip gi luxor+aswan tu.. 2x kami terlepas solat subuh sebab dalam bus. and kami solat pun dalam keadaan duduk..and dia cakap dia nampak ada yang tak terbangun solat subuh~ so ammar pesan kat kak pah.. suh gitau kitorang.. jangan tinggal solat subuh~ baiklah! huhu~but most of the trip, he was having fun with his two friends; Faisal and Faiz and taking lots of beautiful pictures with his Canon EOS 1000D (aku ingat model camera dia sebab ada sekali tu dia mintak aku tolong amek gambar diorang bertiga guna kamera dia~plus im in love with DSLRs!)

1. boleh cope dgn kepenatan kelas dari 8.30 sampai 3-4pm.
2. boleh cope dgn ketensionan sebab x faham arabic ammiyah masa nak take history patients, therefore communication skills, dak arab je bleh buat. (padan muka sndiri!!)
3. boleh pass exam yg diadakan setiap awal bulan.
4. boleh pass exam 9th June ni (uro+nephro) and at the same time boleh completekn thesis yang wajib buat before 15th june.(10-20 pages of tajuk yg complicated) sebab kena buat thesis, kena take extra time after kelas to go to the library untuk cari info.. so balik dah nak dekat kul 5..
5. study untuk final exam 28-30th june nanti

so there's triple studying need to be done pada masa yg sama. kena study utk uro+nephro, finals AND thesis ..

lihatlah.. di mana masa untuk study?
balik rumah dah asar. pastu solat, penat tetido sekejap. bangun, kena masak makan tengok2 dah magrib, so.. study hanyalah mampu dibuat less than 4 jam. kalau tido kul 12, means you have 5 hours je untuk tido.. @_@

sapa yang dapat mumtaz tu, aku taknak kawan dengan kau!!!!

at home, it takes me the whole night to finish ONE topic . . sometimes i don't even get to finish at all.. maybe there are less satan in the library. at home there's to0 much temptations. @_@

It is BY FAR the MOST beautiful place in Mansoura.. no doubt!!!

i still cant believe the govt is paying for EACH and every kidney transplant plus hemodialysis!!

underneath this saikoness is actually somebody yang undergoing depression (undergone kot..sebab dah x rasa sgt), but i'm taking it pretty well.

last week (kot..x ingat..xmo ingat) aku didatangi t-shirt yg didesign oleh aku tapi end up mjadi...urm..how shud i put it.. BUROK? [dats kinda harsh, NOT!!] apa mau buat, dis is wat happen when u deal with egyptians~ T_T aku bkak kilang sndiri kang, baru tau!! [sabar.. sabar.. ade hikmah nye tu.... ade ke? ade2..]
maka selepas mengalami depresi tahap maximum, i found out i gained weight unexpectedly!!! like whoa how did i get dis freakin fat! (cushing ka?? oh tidak.. xde central obesity..fuh..) [not dat im saying before this i'm kurus or anything.. jaga kesihatan mari!!]
tanpa disedari, sebenarnye i've been munching freakin junk food and fast food like.. everyday kot! dah la hari tu buat choc chip cookies (entah brape ribu calorie per cookie) mkn hari2 without considering the amount of fat consumed!!

consequence nye, aku mhukum diri dgn memulakan lifestyle yang lebih sihat berbanding "depression week" aku~

no junk food (ok maybe once a week..or two)
no fast food forever (urmm.. ni ble kot seminggu sekali..since dah nak pokai @_@)
jalan balik-pergi ke skolah~ (burn fat burn!!!)
elak drpd menggoreng makanan~ (exception for telor and nasik goreng, tapi ayam etc rebus only!!)
kalau lapar malam2, makan buah (mansurah fawakih nye murah awi2~)
bangun tidoq minum ayaq kosong teruih~ (macam missy elliot buat..heeeeeee.. ok fine fine.. tak patut amek example dr mat salleh..)
drink air kosong suam alot!! (since summer is approaching, the weather's gonna be of the chain!! [bodo giler] egypt is like an oven when it comes to summer T_T)

ok dah la tu.. banyak sgt.. kang tak buat.. mari istiqamah !
owh istiqamah dlm pelajaran dan ibadah juga~ [yea rite miriam, have u been studying, seriously???]

mid exam's coming.. not mock.. 40 markah masuk final.. mati!!! 5th may or 12th may, it doesnt matter..! semangat study mari mari~~

1st, utk buat Central Venous Line, mark the spot. in this case, is the IJV

2nd, inject some local anesthetic

3rd, inject and aspirate the marked spot at the same time (so that you know that you're at the right place.. kalau nak, boleh je guna ultrasound to see the IJV~)

then pull the syringe out but leave the wire in

then you insert the CVL through the wire

then you sew it in place so that it wont lari.. tadaa!

this is the ECT machine thingy.

thiopental.. one of the 2 components you need before you proceed with the ECT. you need your anesthetic (the thiopental) and muscle relaxant

can you see the doctor holding the handle of the machine at the patient's head? then you shock the patient!

ok dah! terbalikkan patient ke tepi~ what's this position called? ok i forgot but this is to make sure the patient's tongue dont jatuh ke belakang of her throat so that it wont obstruct her airway.

ok pastu habis~ tu je. its not even painful pun. the patient will wake up few minutes later~

so you ask for CBC, liver enzyme test and ELISA for Hepatitis B and C and a liver biopsy.

Diagnosis : Chronic Hepatitis C, with liver cirrhosis.

Prognosis : BAD

Treatment : Liver transplant.

but.. after the liver transplant, his body rejects the organ.

yes i know tomorrow ada mock exam. nama pon mock.. so i'm mocking the exam..
i'm so not taking this exam seriously. why should they name it "mock" exam!! now i have no mood of what so ever to study.. at all!!
if they say "oh this exam will be included in your finals" baru ar orang rasa bersemangat nak study.. its for our own go0d jugak whatttttt. hayooo

so now.. i cant even read the lecture's ppt slides without checking my facebook every 2mins.
MALAS OK.

4th of July : considered as the most late tarikh i've ever decide to balik msia. before this by the end of June sure dah sampai penang.

but 4th seems kinda early.. rasa nak balik lambat sikit pun ada. a bit guilty pulak balik 'awai' ni.~

so there you have it. i've raised the white flag. hope they're happy~ kaklong balik awai ni, boleh la belanja DSLR.. kan kan kan??

so today ada International Cultural Day.
some said it was an utter failure cuz 90% who came was malaysian.. 5% syrian and 5% egyptian. mana p egyptian lain~ it was more of a Malaysian cultural Day.what the..
but for me, i think it went well la. dak2 msian paling bersungguh2 pasang booth.. bagus2.
tahniah baji+temah n the rest who cooked the kuih muih.
silat perf tu cool eh~ and booth tourism tu mantop2.

sorry unit ekonomi x pasang gerai jual makanan.. ada ramai yang nak mati kelaparan tadi sebab xde makanan berat eh~ kesian tol.. aku pun nak mati kelaparan tadi.. @_@

i just finished watching Slumdog Millionaire..!!

cried all the way!! haha~ ok fine i know sometimes i'm overly emotional when i watch any movie.
tapi best giler!!!!!!!

jalan cerita mantap!!
gambar mantap!!
pelakon pon! walaupun tak kacak macam brad pitt or orang prison break tu..
and even if ada part budak tu lompat dalam sh*t hole tu..
movie tu still sangat best!!!!!!

what's interesting about this movie is..
its not a typical bollywood movie~

it doesnt have that scene where its raining and the hero and heroin dance under the moonlight singing for 15mins repeating the same lines over and over again.

there's no kacak actor! (Dev Patel tu not bad la..comel ar.. reminds me of Husna's Mr. Bubu..haha!! sori husna)

the movie shows the 'other' side of India~
the real life of India was revealed and potrayed in its best way in this movie.
there's nothing fake about this movie.
i didn't even know about the reality of India, until i watched the movie.
The movie really opened my eyes.

and the best part is.. the ending was awesome! (sape yang cakap ending dia sedih kat aku tu..aku tatau la korang tengok crita slumdog mane..)

setakat ni.. i think this is the best movie i've seen this year =D

arini best!! Program "Blooms of Ukhuwah" - i really had a great time!
eventhough last minute diorang buat, tapi everything went well.. kalau niat baik (obviously untuk buat perkara yang baik dengan cara yang betul) Allah akan tolong ~ (^^,)

and eventhough korang mintak Unit Econ bukak gerai makanan today last minute jugak~ we were able pulled it off!! hahahaha~~ sonok sangat!! sebab awal2 tu ingat ke makanan takkan abis jual.. tengok2 sold out!! alhamdulillah!! (kecuali kismis..ada lagi tinggal 10 paket..sapa nak?? 2.75genih per paket..haha)

After reading a few paragraphs, i realized that.. this book is not gonna help me!! ok maybe it will.. but its not in arabic!!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
i dont really have anything to worry about except my arabic.

somehow i feel 'tak sedap hati' about this exam.
i dont study like i used to macam masa 1st-4th sem.
it doesnt feel right at all.
i had my 1st migraine before the exam. and guess what. its still not going anywhere.

note to self..go to pharmacy..buy one damn expensive antimigraine, recommended ARCOXIA 90mg. yes.

then.. after being traumatized by the MCQ paper on thursday, i still dont feel anything.. you know like takde prasaan?

"keep smiling, b*tch.. keep smiling.." - this is what i tell myself.

3 more days to essay.

then final paper OSCE on the 29th.

i'm expecting and assuming that the essay and OSCE have to be easier than the excruciatingly detailed MCQ. please God please. the pain, we can not bear it anymore T_T

no wonder la got medical students injecting themselves with insulin and other creative ways of suicide.

Can't wait til this is over.

yes. BIOCHEMISTRY~ one of the reason why my mom didnt pursue medicine. "mama decided not to amek medic because medic ada biochem~" i totally get her now. isk..
"Daddy pun tak suka biochem..tak ada kena mengena dengan patients". Come to think of it, he's right! haha! memang secocok la korang~
because i love my group tutor (who's a biochem lecturer), i'm gonna study biochem even if i have to swallow panadols everyday!!

Exam’s coming up pretty soon. Well not that so0n really. But u know sometimes u just blink and exam is just a week or two from today, which is why I prefer to use the the term ‘soon’.

My cheesecake business had to be paused. I wouldn’t wanna risk it eventhough I know it won’t affect my time that much but I’d rather spend that baking time for the physiology of the kidney. Ewww! Such torture medicine can be.

What else? Mansoura’s economy is going on okay I guess. With some minor problems and some difficulties, that’s normal~ exam or not, it must go on! If Ruqaiyah (last year’s Pen.Ketua Unit Ekonomi) could get jayyid jiddan last year, why not me? Its just the matter of time management, which I suck at.

Yes Mansoura has reached its phase where a heater is a daily 24-7 requirement for every human being (mind the electric bill!!). Before this I didn’t even have to use the heater cuz it wasn’t that cold and 3 layers of baju was enough.. but you’ll be dead in your sleep if you don’t have a heater beside your bed. And yes people you can use your bubble jacket now..

Speaking of electric bills.. I just wanna remind y’all bout the system here. They usually won’t give you the precise amount that you have to pay now. But in the next few months you’ll notice that you’re electric bill seems to be absurdly high compared to the previous bills. Soooooo from now on, just prepare yourself la eh.~

yes two years since i've seen org sembelih lembu during hari raya Qorban~ biiznillah i get to see 4 lembus being slaughtered on raya ke-3!!! yay!!

do you see fear in the cow's eyes? i cant see either . .

diorang cakap kul 6.30 nak start sembelih.. aku pegi pkul 7.05.. but SEMUA dak laki je ada kat situ!! mane dak pompuan T_T maka gambar ni terpaksa di-zoom dari jauh...... ba'din baru ada dak2 pmpuan smpai . . .
lembu pun sampai lambat!! 7.40 kot baru sampai~ hampeh nye lembu!

setelah lembu diikat dan dihempap oleh badang2 mansoura, maka~ penyembelihan pon dilakukan oleh ustaz salman . . . aku ingat ke dak medic yg nk potong.. ape kes! ada ar dlm 50-70 org dak laki medic kat situ, tapi ustaz yg potong.. camne nk jadi surgeon !!! takkan dah kerja nanti nk panggil ustaz salman bedah kot!!

scene seterusnya disimpan buat kenangan~ bloody sangat.. takut gak sesape tepengsan masa nampak to0 much blood~

ni plak muka minah2 poyo~ yg tengah tu bukan aku~ tu kembar aku..~lalala~

overall, that day memang best! pagi tengok lembu nye carotid percik2, then semua orang gotong-royong lapah daging, potong bawang and carrot and kobis and perah limau dan sbgnye~ petang makan sup tulang FREE FREE!!
the next day nye jamuan raya makan free lagi! waaaaa rezekiiiii melimpah2~~~

Ta'aruf Days baru je over. ALHAMDULILLAH ada juniors yg showed up. hehe. thanx to semua yg membantu, especially senior2 MMMC. dan juga encik Pengarah Ta'aruf Day~ mantap ar ko pian, next year ganti pokjat (Pengerusi PCM) plak ek..haha!~ sememangnya gempak Games Day dan Amazing race! = ) thanx semuaaaa! hanya Allah yg dapat memberi ganjaran kpd korg ~

Unit Ekonomi berjalan~ sampai nak study pun asyik terpikir pasal duit. study la miriam!! huhuhu~~

i still remember the 19yr-old husna saying "akak, urm.. saya dah nak kahwin" earlier this year. we welcomed the arrival of their baby girl on the night of 4th December but Allah have decided for them, to take the life of their child..

Mansoura's Railway Station

we could already smell it..
we could already see it!
but unfortunately........we didnt get to eat it..

the 3.5-hour train ride from mansoura to alexandria was mainly driven by craving for Cinnabon.
Cinnabon is 300km away from us.
either you take a bus to cairo..
or take a train to alexandria..

From San Stefano Mall (in alex), we took a cab to Green Mall.. where the Cinnabon is.
Yah and I immediately went to the Cinnabon stall straight away!
The satisfaction of seeing the kedai itself has already drove us mad.
But somehow we decided not to buy the Cinnabons yet cuz Yah's friend said that Carrefour also has Cinnabon..!
So we postponed our purchase.

After shopping in Carrefour (woi carrefour lagi murah kot dari mansoura!!!), without delay, we went hunting for the Cinnabons.

"Hena fii Cinnabon?"(ni broken arabic, meaning "sini ada cinnabon?") i asked one of the local people.

"Lak ah.. hena mafish (nope.. sini xde)" he answered.

ohh sh*t. (ni monologue ar..takkan nak cakap kuat2)

there's no Cinnabon in Carrefour. and the train is about to leave in an hour.
haih..

so i said to myself, (again monologue-ing)
we're Muslims. we should accept whatever God's decision is.. He knows best. kan?

ada laa hikmahnye tuu..

I remember the moment i stepped outta the plane, i start having migraines already. it didnt end there obviously.. when i walked to the place where you claim your luggage, there was this smell of sh*t.... *typical* so whatever.
Met with this one chinese Malaysian. He said it's his 1st time in Egypt. and he asked me mahal tak taxi......... haha!! he asked the right person! muahaha~ so i said "bargain half of what he ask sampai dapat!! and dont let them rip your money off!!" hohoho~ *jahat tol*

here's a thing about Egyptian. I think diorang tak sayang nyawa diorang.
why? cuz they drive like orang gila!! its like cheating death!! Thank God i'm still alive!!

I expect my 1st day as a 3rd year medical student to be very exciting and interesting but it turns out to be the opposite.
if my first lecture i attended has given me bad headaches, i cant imagine how it'd be like for the rest of the semester!
shouldn't be focusing on the problem. instead i should be looking for a solution for it.
still gotta catch up for the previous case i missed last week. darn it!!

rumors has it that, not only the agents from Singapore Airline (in Cairo) that's shamming us, the agents from other airlines are ripping us off too!! (dunno betol ke tak.. better take precautions la)

Pissing about this ain't gonna change anything really. By now, if you're stuck in this problem, you should be going straight to the airline office and settle this once and for all, even if you need to add up any money, which in this case, is neccessary (to upgrade from N class to Y class.)

This matter is not just for the ones who're having troubles with their airline ticket, but for y'all too.

From now on, we have to take precautions to prevent this bull****.

DO NOT buy through impostors! eh silap.. i mean agents. I'm not saying all agents are frauds. Some of them are. lalala~ So either you go directly to the main office, or you buy through online. My parents, nowadays, they're buying airline tickets through the airline's website, and it works pretty well for them! For example Singapore airline, you just go to www.singaporeair.com and you can purchase your flight ticket! tapi bayar with credit card la. If you don't have credit card, call your parents ler~~

few days ago, i went to the SIA office to confirm my flight ticket. But little that i know that the flight ticket i bought about 5 months ago was actually a LIE.

Well not a lie really. More like I was being manipulated. A few of my friends who bought tickets from SIA who are also scheduled to departure on the 9th of October are also in the same situation as i am.

We all thought that the flight seat is already in our hands, but actually, most of us are on the WAITING LIST. Its the last thing you would expect to be in after you've fully paid the tickets, it aint cheap ok! if it is, i wont make such a big fuss out of it!

From what I heard, the Egyptian agent who's working at the SIA office in Cairo tricked the students to buy those tickets and not even informing us that we're on the waiting list. what a fraud..

For once, i wished that they care more about people than MONEY.
Sorry to say but that's what i think of Egyptians.

Greedy, selfish and liars.

I just wanna go back to Mansoura and continue with my new semester peacefully : (

On the bright side, i get to spend more time at home~~ (but still, the thought of missing alotta classes can make me go nuts!!! God help us all......)
